The weekend of 15/16th December is the Hmong New year. No work is done in the Hmong Community from Thursday evening to Monday morning. They celebrate!
Hugh, our site Supervisor, says “it was great to witness the Hmong community celebrating, with the girls of all ages wearing their colourful and beautiful costumes; boys and girls flirting by throwing tennis balls to each other and Bull Fights. It appeared that many Hmong families groomed bulls as pets, only to let them loose on the bulls of other families once a year to prove which was bull dominant.”
Some time ago we were told that when the boys throw the ball to the girl and the girl catches it then this can lead to some serious flirting. If she drops it then ‘forget her mate’.
